Mud cooling is essential in most HP/HT Geothermal drilling operations and geothermal well testing. Drill bit friction, down hole formation temperatures and other factors increase mud temperatures, changing physical properties of the mud, which may create hazards for the safety of personnel and drilling/well equipment.

Task is a company of specialists dedicated to avoiding these hazards and increase the service life of drilling and well equipment. One of our specialties is mud cooling, and the Task mud cooling equipment has a number of features to maximize performance and reliability, at the same time ensuring environmental protection against leakages and other hazards. We specialize in both offshore mud cooling equipment based on the use of sea water as a main cooling agent and in onshore mudcoolers using air as a main cooling agent in combination with a closed circuit cooling system and optionally a compressor type cooler.

The Task onshore mudcoolers are based on a two step closed loop cooling design. The hot mud is passed through a plate heat exchanger, where a circulating water glycol mixture or water absorbs heat from the mud. Fan-cooled radiators lower the temperature of the cooling agent in turn, allowing efficient operation and secure well conditions. This system can be expanded by a compressor type cooling module to increase performance. Task mud cooling equipment is designed to consider the environment and operational as well as working conditions. Design and construction of the equipment guarantee optimum drilling conditions; if required enclosures and sound baffles can be installed for a further reduction of noise levels for crew and site surroundings.

Task disc separators are valuable instruments for the efficient processing of waste materials and the recovery of useful material from slop oil, lowering storage and dumping costs and offering an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional procedures for the processing of waste material. They can be operated with water as a control medium or low-viscosity organic fluids. Task disk separators are built with a self-cleaning bowl with a stack of conical disks. This will greatly enlarge the clarification area and give the separator a substantial capacity within a relatively small bowl volume. The self-cleaning bowl allows periodical discharging of separated solids (max. 1%) at full operational speed. To this end, the bowl ports around its perimeter are opened and closed by a hydraulically actuated sliding piston in the bowl bottom.

The opening mechanism allows both partial and total ejections of the bowl contents. For total ejection, the evacuation ports on the bowl’s perimeter are opened while the feed valve is closed. Partial ejection of the bowl’s contents occurs when the ejection ports are opened while the feed valve is kept open too.

For a simple and reliable operation, the Task disc separator is controlled by a Siemens Simatic C7 PLC: Furthermore, it is designed and certified for operation in Zone 1: the complete drive system is explosion proof. The entire unit is containerised, and mounted on top of a frame, which also holds a sludge tank and pump.

Task’s know how and experience are essential elements in the quality of the disc separator. It can be built completely to your specifications; our modular design practices and wide experience in the field of oil industry equipment will ensure short delivery times and problem free commissioning. Clever tool design and modern production facilities will ensure reliable and economic deployment.

Eliminating gases from mud is one of the first steps in drilling operations, and Task has developed a compact and reliable solution for this job: the VDG-series vacuum degasser. They are specifically designed for efficient degassing of drilling mud: by way of a 29 mm Hg vacuum drilling mud is conveyed from the well into the vacuum chamber of the degasser, and fed over a series of specially designed degassing plates. The large surface area, deep corrugation, weirs and vents on each plate brings entrained gas bubbles to the surface, where they break and allow the gas to escape into the degasser chamber . From there, they are sucked out at the top of the degasser to be burnt off. Degassed mud flows out through a vent in the bottom of the chamber.

Due to its robust construction and the small number of moving parts, Task vacuum degassers are extremely reliable. The mud level during operation is regulated by a float, and a vacuum breaker valve serves to bring the chamber up to atmospheric pressure. The vacuum degasser is specifically designed for operations in zone 1. A large access door allows quick and easy inspection and maintenance of the elements in the vacuum chamber.

Task’s know how and experience are essential elements in the quality of the vacuum degassers. They can be built completely to your specifi cations; our modular design practices and wide experience in the field of oil industry equipment will ensure short delivery times, a problem free commissioning and reliable and economic deployment.

• Simple and efficient degassing of mud • High efficiency on a small footprint • Only 1 drive, 3 moving parts • Large gas exchange surface with high exchange effi ciency • Easy accessibility of working parts for maintenance and control • Direct degassing for exhaust or burn off of entrained gases • Facilitates environmentally friendly operations

WTS-600

On drilling and storage locations drainage and scrub water may be contaminated by a variety of substances which may interfere with environmental friendly procedures or increase the costs of its treatment. Task has developed a water treatment unit to bring drainage and scrub water up to the standards for disposal into sewage systems or for re-use as cleaning water.

The main hardware of the unit, consisting of a buffer tank, pumps, dispensing systems for adding flocculants and stabilizing agents and tubing, is enclosed in a 20 feet container. Outside the container, the unit comprises a settling tank and a storage tank. Drainage and scrub water are pumped by a submersible pump from the corner pit into the buffer tank. From there, the water is pumped into the settling tank. During this process, chemicals such as polymers and FeCl3 can be added in-line to enhance sedimentation of the contaminants and bring the water quality up to a level that will meet the demands for sewage or wash water. From the settling tank, the treated water flows passively into the storage tank which is situated below the sedimentation unit. From the storage tank, it can be pumped to storage tanks for disposal to sewage plants or to the rig for cleaning purposes.

With this water treatment unit, Task’s offers a comprehensive solution for the problem of contaminated drainage or scrub water. The unit allows you to bring these waste waters up to a quality level which makes them suited for affordable elimination or re-use on site, and helps you to meet environmental requirements without complex and costly measures.

TVD-SERIES

In drilling operations the Task TVD-series of cuttings dryers reduces the amount of waste material, and therefore reducing transportation and disposal costs. They will also help recover reusable drilling fluids, resulting in additional cost savings and enhanced environmental performance. Task cuttings dryers are designed for optimum liquids / solids separation and will reduce the liquid fraction of a variety of feed mud’s from 30% to 2 – 4% by weight. After dried, cuttings may eventually be used as landfill material, resulting in a further reduction of the costs of disposal.

Task cuttings dryers are also designed to keep pace with almost any drilling operation. They are usually installed after a shaker to further reduce fluids on cuttings volumes. The vertical screen type dryers have a throughput of 40 metric tons per hour, and can be adapted to any feed style, either pump, auger or vacuum system. From the service and maintenance point of view, the Task cutting dryers are designed with maximum uptime in mind. All parts subject to normal wear are easily accessible from the top of the machine. All machines can be equipped with a self-contained lifting hoist to allow maintenance of the unit without the use of a crane. Belts can be easily exchanged without removing the drive assembly, and the removal or exchange of the drive assembly itself is also a simple and straightforward operation.

Safe and secure access around the cuttings dryer is guaranteed by the specially designed site platform. The machines are designed and certified for use in Zone 1 areas, featuring explosion-proof motors. Task’s knowhow and experience are essential elements in the quality and versatility of all Task equipment, including this TVD-series of cuttings dryers. They can be built completely to your specifications; our modular design practices and wide experience in the field of oil industry equipment will ensure short delivery times and problem free commissioning. Clever tool design and modern production facilities ensure that the equipment you order allows for reliable and economic deployment.

In situations where liquid should be free of suspended solids, the Task automatic flocculation unit TFU-3000 takes care of the flocculation of these solids, which subsequently can be removed by centrifuging. It is a fully automatic installation with separate compartments for the preparation of the flocculation solution, its ripening and the dosage of the correct amount to achieve flocculation of suspended solids in the mud. Both preparation and ripening tanks have their own agitators which guarantee that the delicate balance of the flocculation solution will be maintained. The unit can also be used for demulsifying operations.

The automatic flocculation unit is equipped with dry powder feeder with hopper or a liquid feed device for the flocculation/demulsifying agent, shutoff and pressure reducing valves for the operating water and level sensors. Control panels with warning signals for low polymer levels and dry running making sure that your flocculation process can be kept under close surveillance. The system is self-contained and can be mounted in a 10 ft container. It can be configured as explosion proof, suitable for operation in Zone 1.

Task’s know how and experience are essential elements in the quality and versatility of all Task equipment, including the automatic flocculation unit TFU-3000. It can be built completely to your specifications; our modular design practices and wide experience in the field of oil industry equipment will ensure short delivery times and problem free commissioning. Clever tool design and modern production facilities ensure that the equipment you order allows for reliable and economic deployment.

TKL-SERIES

The Task TKL-series are especially designed for use in the drilling industry. High G-force in a shaker is essential to convey the amount of cuttings generated while drilling hole, to dewater drill cuttings to reclaim expensive drilling fluids, and to minimize waste. While drilling top hole sections, where heavy, high volume cuttings are typically encountered, shakers need to generate high G-force to effectively convey dense solids.

However, as conditions change in drilling and fl uids, the G-force of the TKL- 448 AG LE can be adjusted with the simple twist of the wrist at the control panel, therefore changing the cuttings conveyance velocity. This can be done without shutting down the shaker and adjusting the weight settings on the vibrator motors. As a result, Task’s TKL-448 AG LE can provide drier solids, improved drilling fluid recovery, longer screen life and reduced operating costs.

All units can be provided with 400V / 50Hz or 460V / 60Hz; generate a noise level less than 80 decibels (dB); and are fitted with an adjustable deck capable of inclinations of -2 to +5°. The high G-Force design will effectively convey the solids across the screens. All units will be provided with explosion proof motors or standard motors for HDI and tunneling.

Combining mud cleaning equipment based upon varying physical principles may give you the best of several worlds. With one set of equipment, you will be able to eliminate any particles larger than 15-20 microns. This will allow you to meet most environmental demands and save substantially on your operational costs.

The mud cleaner combination consists of two sets of hydro cyclones: a desander to eliminate particles of 120 – 60 μ, and a desilter which eliminates particles smaller than 60 to 20 μ. The combination of varying physical mud cleaning principles results in a high capacity mud cleaning combination with high a operational efficiency and minimum maintenance, repair and replacement costs.

Hydro cyclones form an extremely cost efficient first step to convert sand and silt loaded mud into relatively particle free fluids. Drilling fluids are pumped at high speed, up to 1500 GPM ( 340 m3/hr) at a pressure of 30 to 40 PSI (2,2 to 2.8 bar) into the hydrocyclone manifold, feeding each hydrocyclone equally. The finer particles together with fluid moves upward and escapes through the overflow tube of the hydrocyclone, a small portion of the liquid, together with the coarser particles, is eliminated through the underflow vents, and undergo a final cleaning step in the shaker resulting in ecologically sound operations and lower maintenance and disposal costs.

Task’s know-how and experience are essential elements in the quality and versatility of all Task equipment, including this desilter / desander and shaker combination. As all Task equipment, it can be delivered completely to your specifications; our modular design practices and wide experience in the field of oil industry equipment will ensure short delivery times and problem free commissioning. Clever material selection and modern production facilities ensure that the mud cleaner combination can be easily and economically deployed.
